My Husband is a genius...
Michael found out yesterday that he passsed Physics 2, with a C!!!!!!!!!!! We were really just hoping that he would pass. We didn't care if he got a D=done, but a C put icing on the cake that he will NEVER take another Physics class! I guess I shouldn't sign him up for MENSA just yet though...

A letter to my mom
This year is the first mother's day that I won't be with my mom. I gave her a sweater when I saw her in Edinburg that I had picked up for $2. We were still planning on spending more on her, but we didn't tell her that.
Last Tuesday after work I went to Target to look for a new hair dryer. Instead I bought my mom a mother's day gift that couldn't have been more perfect for her!
Dear Mom,
Mother's Day to me is an every day occassion, and it is my goal to let you know in some small way how important and special you are to me. However, there is no better day to express exactly how much you mean to me.
Second only to Michael, you are my best friend. There is no one, nor could there ever be anyone that means more to me than you do. I love that we have the same thoughts about things like the infamous "Let's go to our Dillards too..." quote. You "get" me in a way that no one else ever has or probably ever will.
I loved planning my wedding with you last summer, even if it did feel like that was the only thing that we did! What a beautiful day you and Dad gave me. I think back about August 2, 2008, and I am reminded not only of the love that Michael and I have for each other, but also of the love that you and dad have for me.
Thank you so much for being such a strong Christian role model for me. I cannot imagine my life without God. Throughout the last week and few days since Dad has lost his job our family has been shown so much Grace from God! Immediate answers to prayers etc. What a wonderful thing you have passed on to me!
I love you mom! I love you with a love too big for words. The sight of your face brings a smile to mine, the sound of your voice is music to my ears, a touch of your hand is a comfort unlike any other. You are the most beautiful woman that I have ever known, and I am so priveleged to be able to call you a friend, but more importantly, my mom.
I love you so much Mom!

Shoppa-palooza & a Sad Day
It all started with a Coach purse...
I went to Macy's to see if they had the butterfly purse that I had been stalking. They didn't, in fact no Macy's from here to NYC had one. I decided that I would look at some others to see what was out there. The lady at Macy's gave me a rare coupon that actually works on Coach purses. I decided that on Thursday after work I would head to Indy to look at the bigger Macy's.
My mom then mentioned that she was off on Friday for Oaks day. We decided to use my fabulous employee discount to meet in Edinburgh and stay at a Hampton in. Which meant I could also look for a purse at the Coach outlet! I found a beautiful Coach purse Thursday and bought it. It was a great deal too.

Friday morning mom and I got up and had breakfast and got showers. Mom was in the shower when I got a call from dad. He had called to let mom know that he was let go from his job. He had been with the company since I was an infant. The event definitely put a damper on the shoppa-palooza.
It was a very hard day for the Hammond family. We know that God has a reason for allowing this to happen. Please pray for my Dad to find a job soon. Also, please pray for the family...it has been hard for us all.

Flowers
When I got home today there was a "Sorry we missed you" card waiting for me from a flower shop. Michael had gotten it from the door for me. I asked him if he knew who they were from. He didn't. We assumed that it was either a lady that I worked with that just left Tuesday, or Mom. I called the flower shop and they brought them to me, and here is what the note said.

"Dear Laura, Thank you for sharing your mom, she is a wonderful friend to me." Khris Harris
Khris is one of my mom's good friends, who just lost her mother to cancer. I say lost, but anyone could tell from meeting her that LOST is the last thing she was.
I had a long week this week, and those flowers could not have come at a better time.

Hodge-podge
Easter weekend was fabulous! Michael and I got to spend lots of quality time with the Hammond family, as his family was out of town.
Friday we went to Nick and Christy's for dinner, and to play with Luke. Here are some pictures.

Saturday Mom and I went to see Megan and got to meet Lincoln! What a big and CUTE baby. Megan looked gorgeous as always. Chris smelled a little funny from yard work (I'm joking Chris).
After we visited with the Birkes mom and I had lunch at steak n shake, and did a little shopping. We got Michael a toy to put together at steak n shake. We also got me the most adorable Betsey Johnson watch, part easter gift, part gift from mom. See the pictures below...

Michael being run over by a tractor. One last humorous story. This week I am getting a new coach purse that I have been saving for. They don't have the particular style that I want in any of the stores I have been to, so I decided to make a one diminsional model of the purse. I am so excited!

Luke-isms, Horses, and other stuff
It is official...my nephew knows me!
The other day Luke was looking at the picture of Michael and me on my mom's fireplace, and saying RAH-RAH!
Mom and Christy had an end of radiation party for Grandma Hammond. Luke stood by the stairs looking up at my old room and kept saying An Rah-rah. He had said if to me on the phone a very few times, but it is great to feel loved, by him!
Luke is obsessed with balls. It is his favorite word. The other night Nick & Christy were at Target and so were mom and dad. Mom and Dad took Luke through the ball aisle. He loved it! When they left Luke noticed the balls outside of target (you know, the red concrete ones) He screamed "BAH!!"
We bought a ball for Luke for easter, I cannot wait to give it to him!
As many of you have read, I loooove cats. I miss Smokey, and we cannot have a cat in our apartment. However, about 3-4 weeks ago Michael and I found some horses at Purdue. They are just hanging out in a field behind the vet school. We have taken to walking around campus and bringing both horses a carrot every time we go down there. It is so nice to get some animal attention, and to walk. I will probably end up missing the horses when we leave in 2010.
Michael and I are coming home tomorrow for Easter weekend. I am hoping to meet Lincoln on Saturday, and do a little bit of shopping with my mom. Michael and I are saving our easter baskets until we get back home. It should make leaving home a little easier knowing that I have fun stuff waiting at home!
