Carpentry part II

Our finished desk!!!

So Michael spent the entire time that I was in Panama City working on our desk for the apartment! It is so exciting that all of our projects are finished. I know that it is a little hard to tell what it looks like but it looks and feels amazing!

Currently I am working on cleaning and organizing things in my room. We finished up all of the invitations for the wedding day. We are finally starting to check things off of the list. We started our premarital counseling with Brian tonight, exciting!

Thats about it for me. :-)

I <3 the beach!

We are having a blast! I am getting a little stressed about wedding stuff because that day is quickly approaching! We will have to work hard as soon as I get back!

Panama Day 1

our view

Can you tell that I am missing Michael?
My mom and I went down to the beach early this morning. We both stayed outside for about 5 hours. I am uploading pictures as the week progresses so that my card on my camera doesn't get too full!

On the road...again

My parents and I are currently in Dothan Alabama. We are about 1 hour away from Panama City Beach. This will be my fifteenth trip to Panama City. I didn't come with my parents last year because Michael and I went out to see his sister in Denver. Michael was unable to make the trip with us, and I will miss him, but I am ready for a week of relaxation and no Jay C! More later!

Carpentry!

For those of you who don't know Michael is an excellent carpenter, and we have been working on an entertainment center, desk, and coffee table. The madness began when Michael and I were shopping for a desk that would have enough room for two chairs, and both of our laptops. When we were unable to find something that fit those specifications he decided that he would build one for us. He began drawing all of it out on Auto Cad, and this summer the plan was put into motion. He has been working on the desk since he got home from Purdue for the summer. Well he has everything cut now, and some of the surfaces are primed, while others need a bit of touch-up work done to the wood.

Well then Michael and I went shopping for an entertainment center, and the only ones that we liked that were in our price range were not real wood, and that is unacceptable to Michael. It turns out that he had built an entertainment center when he was 19, but had never put a finish on it. So we found a color scheme that we loved, and we decided that we would paint it. Our couch, (which is pictured below), is tan and brown, so we had to pick something that would look good with it. We decided to do a black, and leather brown color scheme. All of the horizontal surfaces are brown, and the vertical surfaces are black. Then we decided that since the desk is going to be in the same room that we should use the same colors for that as well. So we have been working on those projects all this weekend.

I have been actively involved in painting, drilling, cutting, and providing Michael with moral support for the projects, however I wanted to do something on my own. I am not a very good carpenteress, but I do like to be creative. So I was looking at the coffee table that we are "inheriting" from his parents, and I was paying particular attention to the two pieces of marble that were on the table. Neither of us liked them at all, so I decided that would be my project. I bought some thick vinyl/leathery material, that is brown with a black design in it (yes more brown and black) and cut two pieces of plywood (Michael supervised). I upholstered the plywood, and now we have the most amazing looking coffee table ever!

We have just a little under two months left until we are married, and we have been working very hard on all of our projects. We have one more furniture project that we will take on after I return from vacation with my parents. We want to upholster my headboard in that same fabric. We are taking on a lot, but we cannot wait to use the furniture that WE have made together.
