My Dad is hands down the best dad ever. They will be on vacation on Father's Day so his Father's day post will be today.
Dear Daddy,
You have been such a wonderful influence in my life. You have been a solid steady rock for the entire family. I cannot imagine a better man to have for a father.
I love the way that you pretend, (or maybe you really don't) hear things when Mom or I say them. Cocoa-wine comes to mind immediately. I love the way you used to chase me up the stairs at night and scare me to death. Actually, come to think of it, you still do it when I come home to visit. I love that you are the cat's favorite person, and you aren't even all that nuts about cats.
I love the way that you love mom. Watching you with her all of these years has shown me the way that I want to be treated. I like that even though you don't "get" her all of the time, you still make her feel wonderful.
You have always been such a comfort to me. Whether I let my car run out of gas, or did something else stupid. I am so glad that you came with me to West Lafayette to help us move last summer. Even though it was a very happy day for me, it was also one of the saddest days of my life. I needed you that day, and you were so strong while I fell apart in your arms, even though I'm sure that you probably felt like falling part with me.
I love "our" things like: eating cheese pizza well done, going shopping together for Mom's christmas gifts, eating at Mr. Gatti's, making popcorn, watching air force one, picking up "bow tie" seashells on the beach, and getting things ready for yardsales.
Dad, you have been such a wonderful, calming constant in my life and I cannot imagine my life without you. Thank you for being you, oh and for pizza money too. :-) Happy Father's Day!
Love you,
Laura aka Bucky, baby gerbil, Lulu
