Spring Break

Spring Break!

So my first weekend of spring break was Easter weekend. Michael and I spent Friday at my house, and went to Charlestown State Park. Saturday at his house we helped get ready for Easter dinner. we rolled meatballs, and tried to watch and learn some new cooking skills. Sunday we went to church with Michael's mom and dad at St. Francis of the Fields (episcopal) in Louisville. The music was fantastic! Then we went back to Michael's and continued the dinner preparations. My mom and dad came up to have dinner with Michael's family and some of their close friends. I was a little nervous as my dad had never had dinner there, and I was curious to see whether he would eat anything, he did and it was one of the best dinners I've ever had!

This week we babysat Luke a lot, and I got into some serious packing...my room looks so bare!

This weekend my parents took me up to West Lafayette to show them the apartment, and the town. We got there around noon, went to lunch, the mall, and then showed my parents the campus. After that we showed them the Apt. and took them to the hotel. We got checked in and then Michael and I spent some time together. We had a nice dinner at my favorite dining hall (Purdue food is amazing, even if their basketball team isn't...), and then watched What Not to Wear, before heading to our mutual friend Forrest's apt. We came back and watched more home improvement shows before he took me back to my parent's hotel.

This morning we went to breakfast with Michael before heading back. We did some shopping and finally got home around 6.

I had the most wonderful weekend with my parents, Michael, and Purdue food. Michael will be back home for a job interview on Friday! YAY! :-)

My Daddy is the best!

I know I just updated yesterday, but I can't help myself...

My dad did the sweetest thing in the world for me today. Michael and I aren't going to have tons of extra money for the hotel that we will be staying in on the night of our wedding, as we are already spending a good deal on the actual honeymoon. But there is a B&B in Jeffersonville that I have always wanted to stay in, but the bridal suite was out of our price range. So we made arrangements to stay somewhere else that was just "ok." My dad called today and reserved the bridal suite at the Market Street Inn! He wanted me to stay in the place I have always dreamed of, Dad's are the best! He is making my dream come true! Michael and I are so thrilled!

They also surprised me by telling me that they are taking me to West Lafayette to see Michael the weekend after Easter. Also to do a little shopping! YAY!

Easter plans, furniture, and our apartment

Michael was here all last week. We spent a lot of time together, which was a nice change of pace, we normally don't get that much time together. We went out several times, and spent lots of time with family. He will be back in town on Friday, for Easter weekend.

My parents are coming to the Caruso dinner on Easter, I am a little nervous, but I am also very excited. Both of my families together, YAY!

My mom and I have been searching for a mother of the bride dress, and haven't found ANY that we like yet. Meanwhile Michael and I are looking into insurance, and furniture stuff. We found a couch that we are nuts about on Wednesday, but we are hesitant to buy it now, because that means it is one more thing that we will have to move all the way to West Lafayette, and also to carry up to the second floor where our apartment is. Here are some pictures of where we will be living starting this August!

Winter Wonderland!

Friday morning I was awakened by the sound of my mom walking around downstairs. I figured "oh I guess it snowed." Then I looked out the window and was quite puzzled, because there was absolutely no snow on the ground. It began snowing shortly after and my mom brought Luke upstairs to hang out with aunt Laura for a few minutes. I stayed home until about 12:30 and then ran a few errands before heading to Michael's house, so I could be there when he got home.

We stayed inside and hung out with his parents and dog, Bee, inside the house. Michael's dad had made pizza dough, since I looove pizza. We took the dog for a walk, and came back in as the pizza was about ready to come out of the oven. Michael and I played wii, and watched a few episodes of Law & Order with his parents.

Saturday after lunch Michael, his dad, and I went sledding on one of their hills by the pond. Michael and I sledded together, and the dog sledded with Michael. Afterwards we decided to build a snowman, who was actually more of a snow blob than anything. When I got home on Saturday I had a package in the mail. It was a dress that I had been looking at online, and Michael had gotten it for me and had it sent to my house as a surprise.

Sunday Michael came to church with me, and was fantastic to get to go to church with him! I miss going to church with him when he isn't here. After church Nick, Christy, and Luke came over for lunch. We had the most perfect afternoon with my family we all just hung out together, which is something else that I miss when Michael is at Purdue.

We went back to his house for dinner and chatted with his parents about wedding plans.

What a great winter-y weekend!
Here are some snowy pictures:Me making a snow Angel, and Bee thinking that something is wrong with me.

Napkins, bad week, and being in Michael's arms

I got my napkins for the wedding yesterday! They were on clearance at Target, and they are perfect!

I am currently using my laptop in class to type out this blog...bad bad Laura, I know. However my mind is so far away from school at the moment. I am very excited about seeing Michael tomorrow. I have not seen him since valentines day weekend. It has been a difficult 3 weeks for both of us. However, I am feeling like the worst of our being separated is almost over. He will be here for a week for his spring break, which encompasses 2 weekends. Then he will back to spend Easter with the family. A third weekend. Then my parents are talking about taking me up to Purdue/West Lafayette so they can see the campus and where I will be living starting in August! Which is a 4th weekend. That leads us into April, and school is over in April this year. Then Michael is home for the summer, and we will be married the next time he goes back to West Lafayette!

I have had a rough week at school- 3 tests, a paper, and a presentation in my religion class
Luke has been sick
I have had a headache for two days straight, but I have gotten through it and tomorrow I get to be in Michael's arms, and there is no place I would rather be.

More Honeymoon news!

A friend sent me
this picture...
what will they
think of next?

So, yesterday Michael and I made the reservations for our honeymoon. We are staying at a small B&B on the Island of Put-In-Bay, aka South Bass Island. The house was built in 2006 and it only has four guest rooms. Each room is decorated in a different theme: the Cancun room, Put-In-Bay room, New Orleans room, and the Key West room. We are really excited because we were really looking for something that was away from the typical hotel scene.

Other than the we are looking into places to stay for the night of our wedding. We are looking into the Brown, Galthouse, and the Seelbach hotels. The next morning Michael and I will go up to his house for a big breakfast with his family, most of which do not live locally, and head toward the island that afternoon.

As far as school things are concerned I took my Religions of the West midterm on Tuesday, and received a perfect score on the essay portion of the test and did well on the multiple choice portion of the test. I am amazed by some of the people in my class don't know things from the bible that are "second nature" to me.

Honeymoon Dilemna

So, after much thought, and prodding by my blogger friends I have decided that I should start my own blog page, to detail mine and Michael's journey to the alter over the course of the next five and a half months.

For the last month or so people have been asking Michael and me where we will be going on our honeymoon, to which we have answered uhh, we don't know yet. Sunday night we started to seriously look into possible locations. We wanted to go somewhere relatively inexpensive, with a beach, and outdoor activities. We looked at the Jersey shore, but we did not want to be anywhere near Atlantic City, and where we wanted to go there were very few lodging options. We also looked at Panama City Beach, but I have "been there done that," and we wanted to go somewhere different and new for both of us.

Finally I remembered an island that I visited briefly when I was in middle school with a friend's family. We looked into it and it turns out that it has everything we want and need. The island is called South Bass Island, on lake eerie. We haven't made reservations yet, however we finally at least have a "lead" on where we want to go!
